Questions, answered.

Do I need Meta glasses?

No. TalkBeam works best with Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses, but it also works with AirPods, any Bluetooth earbuds or headset, wired earbuds, car audio and Apple CarPlay, or just your iPhone’s speaker. When your glasses are connected, they always get priority automatically.

Can I talk without pressing a button?

Yes. Turn on Open Mic and your mic opens by itself whenever you speak, like a group call, so you never touch a button. Tap once to mute. Prefer control? Hybrid opens your mic with one tap and closes it with another, and Walkie is classic push-to-talk, one voice at a time.

Is TalkBeam on the App Store and Google Play?

Coming very soon. TalkBeam 1.0 is in review on the App Store (iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch) and on Google Play (Android 8 or later). Join the waitlist and we’ll email you the day it’s available.

Is TalkBeam free?

Yes. The free plan includes up to 3 channels. Upgrade to TalkBeam Pro when you need unlimited channels, AI summaries or live translation.

Does TalkBeam keep working when my phone is locked?

Yes. While you’re in a channel, TalkBeam keeps playing with your phone locked or another app open, like a real radio. Leave the channel to stop.

Does TalkBeam work on Apple Watch and iPad?

Yes. TalkBeam runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, and the Apple Watch app lets you hold to talk, switch channels and send an SOS from your wrist.

Is my voice stored?

Not by default. Audio is relayed live to the people in your channel. Transcripts are made on your phone and shared with your channel so everyone can read and search them.

How do people join my channel?

Share your channel’s 6-character invite code or a link. Channels can be public or private, with unlimited members.

Can my company use TalkBeam instead of two-way radios?

Yes. TalkBeam Teams and Enterprise give your company a console with a live team map, supervisor priority talk and all-call, private direct talk and searchable transcripts. Enterprise adds automated weather alerts, crash and man-down detection, lone-worker check-ins, single sign-on and exportable transcripts. What’s the difference between Teams and Enterprise?

Teams ($8 per person per month, or $6 billed yearly) is for crews of 5 to 50 people: the company console, unlimited channels, the live team map, SOS, supervisor priority talk and all-call, direct talk, searchable transcripts and email support. Enterprise ($15 per person per month billed yearly, for 25 people or more, $13 from 100 people) adds single sign-on, automated weather and hazard broadcasts, crash and man-down detection, lone-worker check-ins, an audit log, transcript retention and exports, private AI on your own servers, an uptime SLA and priority support.

How does the free team trial work?

Start at talkbeam.net/teams with your work email; there’s no credit card. Confirm your email and your company console is ready. Share your company code with up to 50 people and use TalkBeam for 14 days, including Enterprise safety features. When the trial ends, choose Teams or Enterprise to keep your channels and settings; nothing is charged unless you do.

Does SOS call 911?

No. TalkBeam isn’t an emergency service. SOS alerts the people in the channels you choose, with your location. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number first.
