TalkBeam for Manufacturing

Push-to-talk for the plant floor, maintenance and every shift

TalkBeam is a push-to-talk walkie-talkie app that connects operators, maintenance, quality and supervisors across your plant on channels by line and department, hands-free through headsets, with man-down detection and a searchable record of every shift.

CH 01The problem

Why plants are rethinking their radios

Downtime is expensive, and a lot of it starts with “I couldn’t reach maintenance.”

  1. Waiting on maintenance

An operator with a down line calls for maintenance on a crowded channel and waits.

    With TalkBeam

A dedicated maintenance channel, with priority talk for supervisors, means the right tech hears the call the first time.

    • Unlimited company channels
    • Priority talk & all-call
  2. Noise and hearing protection

Radios on a loud floor are hard to hear and harder to use with gloves on.

    With TalkBeam

Talk through a Bluetooth headset, including hearing-protection headsets that connect over Bluetooth, and tap once to talk in Hybrid mode.

    • Any headset, glasses or CarPlay
    • Hands-free Hybrid mode
  3. Shift handoffs lose the details

Night shift fixed something, and day shift doesn’t know what or how.

    With TalkBeam

Every transmission is transcribed and searchable, so the next shift can find what was said about a machine.

    • Searchable transcripts
  4. People working alone

Maintenance techs work alone in mechanical rooms, on roofs and during weekend shutdowns.

    With TalkBeam

Lone-worker check-ins and man-down detection alert a supervisor if someone stops answering.

    • Crash & man-down detectionEnterprise
  5. Plant-wide announcements

A drill, a severe weather warning or a line change has to reach everyone, fast.

    With TalkBeam

An all-call reaches every channel at once, and automated broadcasts read severe weather warnings for your site aloud.

CH 02A day on TalkBeam

A down line, running again before the break

A two-shift plant runs line, maintenance and quality channels on TalkBeam Enterprise.

Two days later the same jam happens on night shift. The tech searches “guide rail” and finds Priya’s fix in seconds.

Illustrative scenario. People, places and times are made up; the features are real.

CH 02 · MAINTENANCETranscript
  1. LINE 3

Line 3 is down. Case packer jammed at the infeed.

  2. MAINT LEAD

    Copy, sending Priya. Two minutes.

  3. PRIYA

Cleared. A guide rail was loose; I tightened it and we’re running.

  4. QUALITY

Quality copies. Holding the last 20 cases for inspection.

  5. TALKBEAM Automated broadcast

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lake County until 2 PM. Damaging winds possible.

  6. PLANT MANAGER All-call

Close the dock doors. Outside work stops until the warning ends.

CH 03What you get

What plant teams get on TalkBeam

Everything a two-way radio does, on the phone, headset or vehicle your people already have, plus the things a radio never could.

  • Unlimited company channels

A channel per crew, site, shift or job, and the people who need each one. Supervisors can sit on all of them.

  • Priority talk & all-call

Supervisors cut through the chatter mid-sentence, or reach every channel at once with one hold.

  • Hands-free Hybrid mode

Tap once to open your mic, tap again to close it. Built for people whose hands are busy.

  • Any headset, glasses or CarPlay

Talk through AirPods, a Bluetooth or wired headset, Ray-Ban or Oakley Meta glasses, Apple Watch, CarPlay or the phone itself.

  • Searchable transcripts

Every transmission becomes text with a time and a name, so anyone can scroll back or search what was said.

  • Lone-worker check-ins Enterprise

People working alone get an “Are you OK?” check-in on your schedule. A missed check-in escalates to a supervisor.

  • Crash & man-down detection Enterprise

When a phone detects a crash or a fall with no movement and nobody answers “Are you OK?”, supervisors get an alert with the location.

  • Automated safety broadcasts Enterprise

Severe weather warnings, thunderstorms, earthquakes, air quality and extreme heat near your sites or crews, read aloud on your channels automatically.

Features marked Enterprise are part of the Enterprise plan. TalkBeam isn’t an emergency service and doesn’t contact 911.

Watch a crew run on TalkBeam

In our 2½-minute demo, a fictional ambulance company dispatches with an all-call, reroutes a crew over private direct talk, hears a flood warning read aloud in every unit and reviews it all in the transcripts. Every feature in it is real.

CH 06FAQ

Manufacturing: questions, answered

Can TalkBeam replace radios in a factory?

For most plants, yes, as long as your Wi-Fi or cellular coverage reaches the floor. Test it during the trial in the places radios struggle with too: mechanical rooms, freezers and behind heavy equipment.

Can we use it in hazardous (classified) areas?

Only on a device approved for that area. TalkBeam is an app; it doesn’t change what a phone is rated for, so follow your site’s rules for classified and explosive-atmosphere areas.

Can maintenance hear calls from every line?

Yes. Put maintenance on every line channel, or give maintenance its own channel that operators call into.

Does it keep a record for shift handoffs?

Every transmission becomes searchable text with a time and a name. Enterprise adds retention settings and CSV export.

Can we try it on one line first?

Yes. The 14-day free trial covers up to 50 people with no credit card. Start with one line or one shift, and add more when it works.

What does it cost?

Teams is $8 per person per month ($6 billed yearly) for 5 to 50 people. Enterprise is $15 per person per month billed yearly, from 25 people. The radio cost calculator compares it with your radios.
