CH 06FAQ
TalkBeam is software, so it’s only as safe as the device it runs on. In hazardous or classified areas, use only devices approved for that area under your site’s rules. TalkBeam runs on iPhone today; Android is coming soon on Google Play.
Outside classified areas and wherever there’s coverage, TalkBeam handles dispatch, supervisor talk and check-ins. Keep radios wherever your site’s safety plan or regulations require them, and wherever there’s no coverage.
TalkBeam needs cellular data or Wi-Fi, so a phone with no signal can’t talk or hear the channel. A missed lone-worker check-in still escalates to a supervisor, so you know to follow up.
On Enterprise, a worker turns on lone-worker mode. TalkBeam asks “Are you OK?” at the interval you set, and a missed check-in escalates to a supervisor with the worker’s last location.
