TalkBeam for Restaurants & food service

Push-to-talk for front of house, the kitchen and managers

TalkBeam is a push-to-talk walkie-talkie app that connects hosts, servers, the kitchen and managers on channels through a single earbud, so tables turn faster and nobody runs to the back to ask a question.

CH 01The problem

Why restaurants are ditching the radio and the running

Hosts sprint to the back, servers hunt for a manager, and a busy Friday runs on shouting.

  1. Running to find someone

Hosts and servers leave the floor to ask the kitchen or find a busser.

    With TalkBeam

Floor and kitchen channels through a single earbud, so the question takes two seconds.

    • Unlimited company channels
    • Any headset, glasses or CarPlay
  2. A manager is needed everywhere

Comps, voids, allergies and complaints all need a manager who’s somewhere else.

    With TalkBeam

Managers hear the floor wherever they are, and direct talk handles the quiet word.

    • Direct talk
    • Unlimited company channels
  3. No free hand

Trays and plates don’t leave a hand free to press a button.

    With TalkBeam

Hybrid mode opens the mic with a tap on an earbud and closes it with another.

    • Hands-free Hybrid mode
  4. Area managers can’t hear their stores

An area manager covering four locations can’t hear any of them.

    With TalkBeam

Join every location’s channel, and use an all-call to reach them all at once.

    • Priority talk & all-call
    • Unlimited company channels
  5. Catering out of range

Catering crews at an off-site event are beyond any radio.

    With TalkBeam

TalkBeam runs over cellular data, so the event and the kitchen stay on one channel.

    • Unlimited company channels
    • Live team map
  6. Radios cost money you’d rather keep

Radios, earpieces and batteries add up, and they break.

    With TalkBeam

Staff use their own phones and an earbud, so there’s nothing to buy for each new hire.

    • Any headset, glasses or CarPlay

CH 02A day on TalkBeam

Friday, 7:30 p.m., a 40-minute wait

A 180-seat restaurant runs floor and kitchen channels on TalkBeam Teams. Staff wear one earbud.

Nobody sprinted to the kitchen, and the host quoted real wait times all night.

Illustrative scenario. People, places and times are made up; the features are real.

CH 03What you get

What restaurant teams get on TalkBeam

Everything a two-way radio does, on the phone, headset or vehicle your people already have, plus the things a radio never could.

  • Unlimited company channels

A channel per crew, site, shift or job, and the people who need each one. Supervisors can sit on all of them.

  • Any headset, glasses or CarPlay

Talk through AirPods, a Bluetooth or wired headset, Ray-Ban or Oakley Meta glasses, Apple Watch, CarPlay or the phone itself.

  • Hands-free Hybrid mode

Tap once to open your mic, tap again to close it. Built for people whose hands are busy.

  • Direct talk

Private one-to-one talk for the conversation that shouldn’t go to the whole channel, still kept in company transcripts.

  • Priority talk & all-call

Supervisors cut through the chatter mid-sentence, or reach every channel at once with one hold.

  • Searchable transcripts

Every transmission becomes text with a time and a name, so anyone can scroll back or search what was said.

  • Works with the phone locked

TalkBeam stays live with the screen off or another app open, like a radio on your belt.

  • Company console

Add people, set roles and build channels from a browser. Share one company code and your crew is in.

Features marked Enterprise are part of the Enterprise plan. TalkBeam isn’t an emergency service and doesn’t contact 911.

Watch a crew run on TalkBeam

In our 2½-minute demo, a fictional ambulance company dispatches with an all-call, reroutes a crew over private direct talk, hears a flood warning read aloud in every unit and reviews it all in the transcripts. Every feature in it is real.

Or try the demo company yourself. In the TalkBeam app, open Me → Company and enter this code:

CH 06FAQ

Restaurants & food service: questions, answered

Can our staff use their own phones?

Yes. Staff install TalkBeam on their iPhone (Android is coming soon on Google Play) and join with your company code. You can remove anyone from the console when they leave.

Will staff hear it in a loud restaurant?

With an earbud, yes. TalkBeam plays through AirPods, any Bluetooth earbud or a wired earpiece at the volume each person sets.

Can the kitchen and the floor have separate channels?

Yes. Create as many channels as you like, such as Floor, Kitchen, Bar and Managers, and choose who’s on each.

Does it replace our drive-thru headset system?

No. TalkBeam is for staff-to-staff talk. It doesn’t connect to drive-thru speaker posts or timers.

Can an area manager hear several locations?

Yes. Put each location on its own channel, and add the area manager to all of them.

What does it cost?

Teams is $8 per person per month, or $6 billed yearly, for 5 to 50 people, with a 14-day free trial.
